Wikitude iPhone App is now available worldwide
The Augmented Reality (AR)-Browser of the Startup-company Mobilizy, which is based in Salzburg/Austria, is now available on iTunes stores worldwide. Since the 2nd of October 2009 it was already downloaded in over 20 countries and more than 30.000 times. The Wikitude World browser is especially popular with American users that currently lead the statistics by 15.000 downloads. This week, Wikitude was added to the bestseller list of the American iTunes Store.
Twin Towers re-appear via Augmented Reality
On September 11th, 2001, a series of terrorist acts shook up the USA and the entire world. A New Yorker landmark, the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, was erased from the skyline of the city. The Augmented Reality application Wikitude World Browser now revives the WTC on mobile phones.
Mobilizy Releases Final Version of Wikitude API
The finalized version of the powerful Wikitude API is now available for anyone who would like to develop marker-less augmented reality applications (AR) for the Android platform. The WIKITUDE API offers developers the tools to either create their own Android augmented reality applications, or enhance their existing Android applications with an AR camera-view engine that displays any latitude, longitude geo-data.
Mobilizy Unveils AR Navigation System
Mobilizy GmbH reveals a preview of it’s augmented reality navigation system, the first fully functional mobile AR navigation system available for the Android platform. Wikitude Drive was developed by the Mobilizy Research & Development group in Salzburg, Austria, to satisfy the curiosity of the developers to see if it was feasible to combine real-time navigation with mobile augmented reality. The result of this quest is Wikitude Drive, a fully-functional, light weight navigational system which overlays point-to-point directions on a camera-view, without the need for maps.
